ABOUT US

The feeling is universally shared: the world is undergoing a shift unprecedented since the fall of the Berlin Wall. In Europe, many decision-makers and experts are on the defensive. The rise of Asia, the growing role played by the BRICS countries, the war in Ukraine and the war in the Middle East are forcing us to question all the certainties on which the current political choices of NATO and the European Union are based.

The founders of the BRENNUS Institute are taking up this contemporary challenge. Faced with such a profound change, a ‘paradigm shift’ is needed. The interpretative keys used by many Western analysts are obsolete. Too often, the explanatory models used seek to circumvent reality – when they do not simply consist of attempting, at all costs, to preserve the privileges of the old world.

“We also see that, in our globalised world, causes and effects are interconnected in multiple and parallel ways, far beyond geographical boundaries. Political decisions taken in one part of the world have repercussions on developments in other regions and vice versa. Recent events in Ukraine and Gaza have been greatly influenced by decisions taken in Washington by a weakened Democratic government. Conversely, the evolution of these conflicts has had an impact on the US presidential election, at least indirectly.‘
